Orange Turmeric Vaxa Bars - Our plant based bars make the perfect lightly sweet and date-free raw vegan crust. The Orange Turmeric bar features vitamin C, omega 3’s, and anti-inflammatory ingredients to keep you full and healthy!
Oranges - Any orange variety will work for this recipe. However we recommend opting for a sweet orange variety such as Cara Cara, or Valencia. You will need some for juice, and some for placing on top for decoration.
Orange Zest - Fresh citrus zest is the best way to enhance the natural orange flavor of these bars.
Sunflower Seeds - This nut-free vegan ice cream base is made with raw sunflower seeds to create the ultimate creamy and nutritious ice cream. Sunflower seeds are full of Vitamin E and are anti-inflammatory.
Hemp Seeds - Make up the other half of this nut-free ice cream base. Hemp seeds are loaded with protein and healthy Omaga’s.
Vanilla Extract or Paste - You can either use vanilla bean paste, or pure vanilla extract, both will work perfectly.
Maple Syrup - Any liquid plant based sweetener works in this recipe. We went with maple, because it is a natural sweetener, and doesn’t affect the color of the bars as much as other natural sweeteners.
Turmeric powder - Is used mainly to achieve the vibrant orange color in these Orange Ice Cream Bars. However it is also a great way to add additional nutrients to this recipe.
Himalayan Pink Salt - Helps to enhance the natural flavors of this recipe.
How To Make This Orange Ice Cream Bar:
Making these Orange Ice Cream Bars is incredibly easy. There’s no churning required, or special equipment needed. All you need is a blender, ice cube molds, and a metal brownie pan.

First things first, begin by combining the hemp seeds and sunflower seeds together in a glass container. Fill with water until the seeds are completely submerged. Place to soak in the fridge for at least 4 hours, or overnight.
Once the seeds have soaked and softened, strain them and add to a high speed blender along with the maple syrup, orange juice, orange zest, vanilla extract, turmeric powder, and salt. Blend on high for about a minute, or until silky smooth.
Pour the mixture into a large ice cube tray and place in the freezer for at least 2 hours, or until frozen. Once the ice cream cubes are frozen, add them to a blender with a splash of plant based milk. Depending on how powerful your blender is you may need more, or less plant based milk, or you might not need it at all. Start with a little and slowly add more. The consistency should be thick and creamy like soft serve ice cream.
Make the crust by removing the Vaxa Bars from the packaging and pressing down to create a thin layer. Depending on the size of your brownie dish you may need more or less Vaxa Bars. We went with 6 bars for our 8x6 inch dish.
Scoop the orange ice cream mixture onto the Vaxa Bar crust and smooth out with a spatula. Peel and cut 2 oranges into rounds and place on top of the ice cream, creating your own unique design. Place in the freezer for 1-2 hours. When ready to eat, cut into slices and enjoy!
