Why Seeds?

Växa bar is a seed based bar, over 40% of the ingredients are from seeds. Why?

We didn’t start Växa only to make a plant-based bar. We want to make sure as many people as possible can enjoy our healthy and nutritious snack, so we sought to eliminate as many dietitian and allergen ingredients as possible. Seeds helped us make a bar that is both gluten free, dairy free, organic, and nut free.

We chose seeds for many different reasons. First and foremost, we love seeds! My family has been growing off the power of seeds for decades, but the main reason is because of their nutritional value, taste, and protein amount.

We played around with seeds of all shapes and sizes, each with unique health and wellness benefits. During our year of experimenting with different ingredients, three species established themselves as the best of the best;Hemp seeds, Chia seeds, and Pumpkin seeds.

Hemp Seeds

This is one of our secret weapons. Hemp seeds don't have a dominant flavor and they add an unbelievable amount of plant-based protein. They're also rich in healthy fats and essential fatty acids. Hemp seeds have high amounts of vitamin E, potassium, magnesium, calcium, iron and zinc – a health cocktail!

Chia Seeds

Chia seeds are small but mighty. They are full of important nutrients that your kids need. They're an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, they're rich in antioxidants, and they provide fiber, iron and calcium. All this from such a tiny seed? Yes, and we love them for it.

Pumpkin Seeds

Pumpkin seeds are the queen of the seed world. They have amazing health benefits. They're high in protein and contain omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, antioxidants, and fiber, a combination incredibly beneficial for the heart and liver. They've also been known to lower cholesterol and decrease the risk of heart disease.

More on seeds:

Inside each tiny seed are enough vitamins and nutrients to grow complex plants. Because of this, they are extremely nutritious. Seeds are great sources of fiber. They also contain healthy monounsaturated fats, polyunsaturated fats, and many important vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. When consumed as part of a healthy diet, seeds can help reduce blood sugar, cholesterol, and blood pressure.
